Since its creation in 1995, the Avenches Opera Festival has become a point of reference for outdoor classical events. The Festival has attracted more than 600,000 enthusiastic spectators since its debut 18 years ago.  Audiences marvel at the high quality performances which are presented in a unique historic site in Switzerland.

This success is due to the special, warm ambiance and the magical mood that reign during each performance – the over two thousand year old Roman Arenas – and the beauty of a performance which brings together artists and the public who share the same passion.

Since its beginning, the festival has continued to evolve.  Its structure has been adapted and professionalized. However, its main objective remains unchanged: That the Festival remains a national point of reference for “under the stars” classical events and puts opera within easy reach of everyone.
